The Federal Capital Territory Administration has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Suburban Broadband, SPV, to convert the Jabi Lake Waterfront into one of Africa’s most prestigious luxury destinations.
The agreement, concluded at the FCT Minister’s office, is one of the boldest redevelopment drives under Minister Nyesom Wike, with officials drawing parallels to global projects such as Palm Jumeirah as Abuja positions itself for high-value tourism and investment.
The project is planned as a massive mixed-use ecosystem, featuring upscale residences, commercial and hospitality offerings, and signature recreational attractions.
The FCTA is optimistic that the development will create thousands of jobs and elevate Abuja’s global market appeal, particularly among high-net-worth business and leisure travellers.
At the signing, Barr. Ahmed Nasser, leader of Suburban Broadband, said the consortium was fully committed to delivering on the vision.
“This partnership marks a pivotal step in redefining Abuja’s skyline and global reputation. Jabi Lake Waterfront will cement the FCT’s status as Africa’s leading capital city,” he stated.
The Suburban delegation included Mrs. Olufunmilayo Hannah Aigbomian, Mr. Idris C. Usman of First Trust Mortgage Providers, and the project’s foreign technical partner, Mr. Pankaj.
Wike, while welcoming the partnership, issued a clear charge to the consortium to obey every clause in the MOU, insisting that the FCTA would tolerate no deviation from standards of transparency, sustainability and excellence.
Responding, Mr. Pankaj said the team would deploy top-tier global expertise and innovative design elements, adding that mobilisation to site would begin immediately to meet delivery timelines.
The redevelopment marks another major push in the FCTA’s expanding Public-Private Partnership strategy, which the administration considers essential for sustainable growth and improved quality of life across the capital.
With the deal now sealed, officials say the transformation of Jabi Lake from a modest leisure spot into a signature international luxury hub has officially begun.
