The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, has expressed optimism that the Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, will be completed and inaugurated by December 2026.
Ogbe gave the assurance while hosting senior executives of South Africa’s Edison Corporation and representatives of Megastar Technical and Construction Company after a one-day project review tour and workshop held at the Nigerian Content Tower in Swali, Yenagoa.
He described the five-star hospitality project as a flagship investment for the Board and a key driver of economic and tourism growth in Bayelsa State.
According to him, the NCDMB leadership is closely monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery.
“This project is of immense importance to the Board, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, and indeed Nigeria.
“Its completion will open up the state to increased tourism and business opportunities, which has been one of my key aspirations since assuming office,” he said.
He noted that significant progress had been made on critical components of the project, including design alignment, financing structure, and contracting strategy, expressing confidence that all stakeholders would sustain the momentum required to meet the deadline.
Ogbe also commended Edison Corporation and the project contractor for the quality of work delivered so far, while urging them to remain focused on meeting agreed timelines.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Edison Corporation, Mr. Vivian Reddy, reaffirmed his company’s commitment to delivering a world-class facility in partnership with the Radisson Hotel Group.
He said the project would elevate Yenagoa’s profile on the global hospitality map.
“Once operational, the Radisson brand will make Yenagoa more visible internationally, attracting visitors and boosting tourism and investment,” he said.
Reddy explained that his company would oversee the full delivery process, including finishing,
furnishing, and ensuring the hotel meets international standards. He added that collaboration with the main contractor was ongoing to guarantee quality execution.
He disclosed that securing the partnership with Radisson required extensive negotiations spanning over 18 months, involving rigorous documentation and due diligence.
According to him, the eventual agreement signals strong investor confidence in the project and the region.
“When a global brand like Radisson commits to a project of this nature, it reflects confidence in the location and its potential,” he said.
Reddy further praised Ogbe’s leadership, describing him as visionary and committed to seeing the project through to completion. He also expressed confidence in the technical capacity of the contractors and consultants involved.
The Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre, Yenagoa, is being developed to meet international five-star standards and is expected to serve as a major hub for conferences, corporate events, and high-level engagements.
The project is projected to stimulate economic activities across Bayelsa State and the wider Niger Delta region.
