A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State, Dr. Nura Manu, has dismissed talks of a possible consensus arrangement ahead of the party’s governorship primary election, insisting that he has no intention of stepping down for any aspirant.
Manu spoke in Abuja after appearing before the APC screening committee.
The aspirant described the screening exercise as interactive and engaging, noting that members of the committee asked several questions during the process.
“The committee engagement has been interactive. They asked a lot of questions and we gave answers as far as we could,” he said.
Speaking on his plans for Bauchi State if elected governor, Manu clarified that the proposed N100bn fund associated with his campaign was not meant for security purposes.
According to him, the fund is designed to support the commercialisation of agriculture and boost small-scale enterprises across the state.
“The N100 billion I am talking about is not for security. It is a fund I am planning to bring for the state to support commercial agriculture and small-scale businesses,” he stated.
He explained that the initiative forms part of his three-point agenda aimed at driving economic growth and improving livelihoods in Bauchi State.
On the issue of consensus among aspirants in the state, Manu said he was unaware of any arrangement by the party leadership.
“Well, I am not aware of any consensus in Bauchi. I have been preparing for elections and I have no intention of stepping down for anybody,” he added.
