Presidency to honour Otu as most  MSMEs-friendly Governor

Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Otu, is set to be recognised for his contributions to the development of micro, small and medium enterprises, MSMEs, at the 2026 National MSME Awards.

The governor has been selected to receive the Most MSME-Friendly Governor of the Year Award at the event scheduled for June 27, 2026, at the Conference Centre of the State House in Abuja.

Organised by the Office of the Vice President, the ceremony will also feature the unveiling of a compendium documenting MSME-related initiatives implemented under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The publication is expected to showcase notable milestones recorded in the promotion and growth of small businesses across the country.

The award recognises Governor Otu’s efforts in fostering an enabling environment for entrepreneurship, encouraging local enterprise development and strengthening grassroots economic participation in Cross River State.

Since assuming office, the administration has introduced a range of measures aimed at supporting entrepreneurs, expanding access to finance and improving the business climate.

Many of these interventions have been driven through the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency, CRSMEDA, which has spearheaded programmes designed to boost the capacity and competitiveness of small businesses.

The recognition highlights the state’s commitment to policies that support enterprise development and aligns with the Federal Government’s broader objective of leveraging MSMEs as a key driver of economic growth and job creation.

The award ceremony is expected to attract senior government officials, business leaders and stakeholders from across the enterprise sector, providing a platform to celebrate achievements and innovations in MSME development.
