Natasha receives PDP certificate of return for 2027 Senate race

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Wednesday received her Certificate of Return as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Kogi Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general election.

The certificate was presented to the lawmaker at a ceremony attended by the PDP National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and other party leaders at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking shortly after receiving the certificate, Akpoti-Uduaghan described the development as a call to greater service and responsibility, thanking party leaders, delegates and supporters for their confidence in her.

“This Certificate of Return is not just a document; it is a symbol of the trust and confidence that our party members and the people have placed in me. I accept it with humility, gratitude and a renewed commitment to serve,” she said.

The senator, who currently represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly, reaffirmed her commitment to effective representation, good governance and policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.

She said the PDP remained a platform of hope for millions of Nigerians and urged party members to remain united ahead of the 2027 polls.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also called for issue-based campaigns and sustained grassroots engagement, stressing the need for leaders to prioritise development, accountability and economic opportunities for citizens.

She urged party supporters to remain focused on the collective goal of delivering responsive and people-oriented leadership.

The lawmaker said the party must continue to strengthen its engagement with citizens and demonstrate its readiness to address the country’s social and economic challenges through people-centred policies.

With her candidacy formally confirmed, Akpoti-Uduaghan is expected to intensify consultations with stakeholders, party leaders and constituents across Kogi Central as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.

The senator first gained national prominence through her advocacy for transparency and accountability and has remained one of the leading political figures in Kogi State.

Her emergence as the PDP candidate is expected to set the stage for another keenly contested senatorial election in Kogi Central.
