The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in collaboration with Rite Foods Limited, will on Tuesday, host the maiden edition of the Academic Excellence Recognition Award Ceremony in Lagos, where seven exceptional Nigerian undergraduates will be honoured for their outstanding academic achievements.
The award ceremony is designed to celebrate students who distinguished themselves during the 2025 admission exercise through exceptional performance in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, and their respective post-UTME or institutional screening exercises. Each recipient will receive a cash award of N5 million.
According to a statement issued by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Public Communication Advisor, PCA, to JAMB, the initiative reflects the shared commitment of JAMB and Rite Foods Limited to promoting academic excellence, rewarding merit and inspiring young Nigerians to pursue educational success.
The seven beneficiaries emerged through a rigorous, transparent and merit-based selection process coordinated by JAMB.

The recipient of the special award for the highest-performing candidate living with a disability also hails from the University of Lagos, making the institution the only university with two awardees at the maiden edition.
The event is expected to attract more than 300 distinguished guests drawn from government, academia, regulatory agencies, the corporate sector and the wider education community.
Among the expected dignitaries are the Minister of Education, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Vice-Chancellors of the universities attended by the award recipients, Vice-Chancellors of universities in Lagos State, heads of key regulatory agencies including the National Universities Commission, NUC, the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, and the National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE, alongside principal officers of tertiary institutions, development partners, corporate leaders, students and members of the media.
