The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a second term in office in the 2027 presidential election, attributing his optimism to what he described as the administration’s bold economic reforms, improving macroeconomic indicators and growing confidence from both local and international institutions.
Speaking during an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Alausa said the Tinubu administration has remained faithful to the promises it made to Nigerians by implementing far-reaching reforms that are repositioning the economy and creating a solid foundation for sustainable and inclusive national development.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Mr. Ikharo Attah, the minister said Nigeria’s economic progress is no longer a matter of political projection but one backed by credible data and independent assessments from reputable institutions.
Alausa noted that reports by the International Monetary Fund, IMF, the World Bank, Bloomberg and Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, indicate that the country’s economic reforms are yielding measurable results and strengthening investor confidence in the economy.
He said key macroeconomic indicators continue to improve, with inflation showing signs of moderation, economic activities expanding and other critical indices reflecting steady progress.
“The President is focused on building a stronger Nigeria for generations to come. These reforms are not designed for short-term gains but to create lasting prosperity. There is no value in making difficult decisions if they cannot stand the test of time,” the minister said.
Alausa added that the administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline, structural reforms and long-term economic stability is already producing positive outcomes across several sectors, placing Nigeria on a firmer path toward inclusive growth, higher productivity and sustainable national development.
He maintained that as more Nigerians begin to experience the positive impact of the ongoing reforms and witness continued improvements in the nation’s economic fundamentals, President Tinubu’s performance will remain the strongest justification for seeking another mandate in 2027.
The minister also reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to implementing policies that strengthen the economy, improve citizens’ welfare and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing confidence that the current reforms will continue to deliver enduring prosperity for Nigerians.
