The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in a joint operation with the Nigerian Army, has uncovered a four-bedroom bungalow used as a cannabis warehouse in Illushi Community, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Edo State Commander of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said operatives recovered 1,359 kilograms of cannabis and cannabis seeds during the raid and arrested two suspects, Ojore Onweze, 45, and George Agwumede, 30.
According to Ofoyeju, the seizure comprised 52 bags of cannabis and several containers of cannabis seeds, with investigations ongoing to identify other members of the drug trafficking network.
He condemned the use of residential buildings to store illicit drugs, describing it as a threat to public safety and community security.
The NDLEA commander commended the Nigerian Army for its collaboration and urged residents to support the fight against drug trafficking by providing useful information to security agencies.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and bringing those involved in the illicit trade to justice.
