Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The approval comes as one of the measures marking President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office, during which the FCT Administration also commissioned and flagged off more than 30 infrastructure projects across the territory between June 8 and July 17.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, announced the development recently, describing the promotion as part of the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also disclosed that the minister had directed the commission to immediately begin the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted without delay.
Promotion examinations for senior officers were conducted from July 1 to 3, while junior officers wrote theirs on July 10.
Ezeh commended the minister for providing the support that enabled the commission to successfully carry out the exercise and said the new directive underscores the administration’s resolve to prioritise workers’ career progression alongside ongoing infrastructure development.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to compliment the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory, and for us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the 3rd anniverssary of Mr President,” he said.
He added that the directive was aimed at ensuring civil servants also benefit from the achievements being recorded under the Tinubu administration as it marks its third anniversary.
Ezeh also praised FCT civil servants for their peaceful and orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged officers expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline and professionalism.
He further appreciated the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee, JUAC, for its cooperation, which he said contributed to the successful conduct of the promotion exercise.
The commission chairman advised officers preparing for the 2026 exercise to begin preparations early, stressing that promotion in the FCT Civil Service remains merit-based, competitive and subject to the availability of vacancies.
