FMBN says operations unaffected after fire outbreak

The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, FMBN, has assured stakeholders and customers of the bank that its operations remain unaffected despite a fire outbreak on its head office in Abuja.

Fire gutted the second floor of its Head Office in Abuja on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

“The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria hereby reassures all stakeholders, customers, and the general public that this unfortunate development has not compromised the Bank’s operations,” a statement by Joe Abuku, Group Head, Corporate Communications, said on Monday.

According to Abuku, “Appropriate business continuity and mitigation measures are in place to ensure minimal disruption to service delivery. The office remains open for normal business.”

He stated that the fire was successfully contained and prevented from spreading to other parts of the building.

He, however, explained that while there was ome damage to office furniture, equipment and appliances in the affected areas, “we are grateful to report that official documents that were affected are securely backed up electronically, with cloud storage.”

Abuku assured that investigations continue to establish the cause of the fire, while commending the Fire Service, the Police, members of staff and all stakeholders for their cooperation and timely response to mitigate the fire outbreak.
