The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, has established more than 20 factories across Nigeria as part of its drive to accelerate local manufacturing, technology transfer and industrial development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during the Presidential Media Team Tour of NASENI headquarters in Abuja, where he said the Federal Government’s industrialisation agenda is yielding tangible results through investments in science, engineering, innovation and job creation.
According to a statement by the Special Assistant, Media, to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister said the National Renewed Hope Media Tour was designed to enable Nigerians to witness firsthand the projects and programmes being implemented by the Federal Government while promoting transparency and public accountability.
Idris said the Tinubu administration remains committed to transforming Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy into one powered by production, innovation and exports, stressing that industrialisation, technology and youth empowerment are central to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We want Nigerians to see for themselves how government policies are being translated into tangible projects, jobs, innovation and opportunities. Transparency is strengthened when government institutions actively engage the public, while accountability is enhanced when citizens can independently verify progress,” he said.
The minister described NASENI as a critical institution driving Nigeria’s industrial transformation through interventions in local manufacturing, renewable energy, agricultural mechanisation, digital technology and skills development.
He said the agency’s initiatives are strengthening local productive capacity, reducing dependence on imports and creating opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
Idris also commended the management and staff of NASENI for advancing indigenous technology and engineering solutions, while applauding members of the Presidential Media Team for providing factual, balanced and firsthand reports on key government projects across the country.
Earlier, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the agency is implementing a practical industrialisation strategy centred on local manufacturing, healthcare innovation, technology transfer and the commercialisation of research.
“Our goal is to build sustainable industries by designing products for the Nigerian market, assembling them locally, gradually increasing local content and creating factories that can compete globally. That is how we have been able to establish more than 20 factories within a short period,” Halilu said.
He added that NASENI’s interventions now span eight key industrial sectors, with projects spread across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, as the agency works to deepen industrial capacity, stimulate innovation and create employment opportunities nationwide.
The event was attended by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Communication and Citizen Engagement, and other senior government officials.
