Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has distributed seven buses to state-owned tertiary institutions to improve transportation and support academic activities.
The buses were presented to the benefiting institutions at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
Idris urged the institutions to ensure proper maintenance and judicious use of the vehicles, describing the gesture as part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen tertiary education in the state.
The governor said the provision of the buses would improve mobility, streamline institutional activities and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
“As a teacher, I must support my own constituency. This is part of the promises I made, and I am pleased to have fulfilled it,” Idris said.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, thanked the governor for fulfilling his promise and assured that the buses would be used strictly for their intended purposes.
The benefiting institutions are Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu; Kauran Gwandu College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences, Ambursa; College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega; Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero; College of Advanced and Legal Studies, Yauri; College of Nursing Sciences, Birnin Kebbi; and Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari.
