Julius Berger reaffirms quality as Rivers road project commissioned

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering durable infrastructure following the commissioning of the reconstructed Buguma-Abalama-Tema-Degema-Abonnema Road in Rivers State.

The road, which cuts across Asari-Toru, Degema and Akuku-Toru Local Government Areas, was commissioned on Monday amid celebrations by residents, traditional rulers, community leaders and government officials.

The commissioning was performed by the Amanyanabo and Paramount Ruler of Abonnema, King Dr Disreal Gbobo Bob-Manuel II.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director, Administration of Julius Berger Nigeria, Dr Abdulazziz Kaita, said the project demonstrated the company’s commitment to engineering excellence and infrastructure development in Rivers State.

Kaita said the road would improve connectivity among communities in the three local government areas, enhance accessibility and stimulate economic activities.

He also noted that the project was successfully completed despite the exceptional circumstances surrounding the six-month period of emergency rule in Rivers State.

According to him, Julius Berger remained committed to applying high engineering standards and delivering infrastructure capable of providing lasting value to host communities.

He said, “We are confident that this road will enhance connectivity among the beneficiary communities, improve accessibility, stimulate economic activities and contribute positively to the overall development of Rivers State.”

The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, who attended the commissioning, commended Julius Berger for delivering the project to the required standards.

Fubara also appreciated the host communities for their cooperation during the construction period, describing the road as a critical gateway for Abalama and neighbouring communities.

He said the improved road network would facilitate the movement of goods and services, support businesses and create greater economic opportunities for residents.

The governor added that several challenges previously associated with the corridor were being addressed through the completion of the project.
