Yari 774 initiative inaugurates ex-AMAC chair as FCT coordinator

The National Chairman and Convener of the Yari 774 Initiative for Asiwaju, Chief Ibrahim Emokpaire, has formally inaugurated Hon. Micah Y. Jiba as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Coordinator of the group, charging him to mobilise the grassroots for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Emokpaire, who spoke at a press conference in Abuja said the inauguration marked a significant step in the initiative’s renewed grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

He described Jiba, a former National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, and former Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, as a tested grassroots politician with the experience and political network required to coordinate the initiative effectively in the FCT.

According to him, the public presentation of Jiba was necessary to establish clarity, accountability and responsible leadership within the organisation and to discourage unauthorised individuals from claiming to represent the initiative in the territory.

He said the initiative had no problem with genuine supporters of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, stressing that its objective was to bring supporters together while ensuring discipline and coordination.

Emokpaire said the initiative was committed to building a disciplined grassroots structure capable of taking its message of peace, development, unity, responsible leadership and democratic participation to communities across the FCT.

He disclosed that preparations were also underway for the inauguration of the initiative’s leadership structures across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

The national chairman further commended President Tinubu for what he described as the confidence reposed in FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and acknowledged ongoing development projects across the territory under the minister’s leadership.

He also congratulated Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar on his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, pledging the initiative’s support for the assignment.

Also speaking at the event, a the FCT All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman, Hon. Ishaku Tanko Yamawo commended the national leadership of the initiative for choosing Jiba as its FCT coordinator.

He described Jiba as a grassroots politician who is widely accepted among stakeholders in the territory, noting that the large turnout at the inauguration was an indication of his political influence and acceptance.

In his remarks, the newly inaugurated FCT Coordinator, Jiba, congratulated Senator Yari on his appointment, describing it as strategic and capable of strengthening the campaign for President Tinubu’s re-election.

Jiba said his experience as a former ALGON national president and former AMAC chairman had given him a deep understanding of the importance of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas to political mobilisation and national development.

“As someone who served as National President of ALGON and as Executive Chairman of AMAC, I understand the importance of the 774 local governments in Nigeria’s political and development structure,” Jiba said.
