US President Donald Trump has blamed ongoing student protests in France on migration and what he described as the growing influence of Islam in the country.
Trump made the comments on Tuesday in a post on his Truth Social platform, as demonstrations continued across several parts of France.
The protests, which began in late September, have seen students block the entrances to hundreds of high schools while demanding improved conditions.
Some of the demonstrations have also resulted in clashes between protesters and security forces.
Trump linked the unrest to France’s migration situation, arguing that the protests were about more than education.
The comments come as immigration and cultural issues remain prominent in Trump’s political messaging ahead of the US midterm elections.
Reports indicate that about 250,000 people have taken part in demonstrations across France.
