Son arrested for writing FCTA promotion exam for father

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly sitting for a promotion examination on behalf of his father, an employee of the FCT Fire Service.
Musa was caught on Wednesday, the third day of the promotion examination being conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission, at the examination venue within the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN.
The suspect reportedly told security personnel that his father, Musa Mohammed, was sick but was within the NOUN premises.
He, however, allegedly admitted that his father had directed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.
When asked about his father’s age, Monsuru said he was between 67 and 68 years old.
His father, however, gave a different account, saying he would turn 60 in February 2027.
Mohammed also told interrogators that he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.
Both father and son were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.
The security operation at the examination venue was deployed at the instance of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as the commission continues the promotion examination for FCT civil servants.
