2027: Lokpobiri mobilises women, health professionals for Tinubu’s re-election

Dr. Ogechi Lokpobiri has called on Nigerian women and health professionals to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, insisting that his administration’s reforms offer a pathway to sustainable national development.
Lokpobiri, wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and National Coordinator of the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance, TIHSEPA, made the appeal on Friday in Abuja while addressing journalists on behalf of the alliance.
She acknowledged that the reforms had imposed short-term difficulties on citizens but maintained that the country needed to confront its longstanding structural problems to establish a stronger economic foundation.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country. While reforms may come with challenges, we must also look at their broader objectives and the opportunities they are creating for a stronger and more sustainable Nigeria,” she said.
According to her, the administration’s policies were reshaping critical sectors of the economy and could improve Nigeria’s standing in the international community if implementation was sustained.
Lokpobiri urged women to move beyond the sidelines and take an active part in shaping the country’s political direction, stressing that their participation was crucial to decisions affecting families and communities.
“Women cannot afford to remain on the sidelines. We have a responsibility to participate actively in the affairs of our country and to support policies and programmes that we believe will advance the wellbeing of our families and communities,” she added.
She called on women across the country to mobilise peacefully behind government programmes designed to improve healthcare, expand social interventions, empower families and create economic opportunities.
The TIHSEPA coordinator also praised the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as an “Icon of Impact” for her interventions targeting women, children and vulnerable Nigerians.
She cited the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, alongside other programmes in social welfare, healthcare, education and economic empowerment, as efforts complementing the administration’s broader development agenda.
Lokpobiri said the First Lady’s focus on women and families reflected the importance of inclusive leadership and addressing the needs of vulnerable citizens.
Turning to the health sector, she called on medical and other health professionals to contribute more actively to policy discussions and efforts to improve access to quality healthcare.
She said TIHSEPA would continue to mobilise practitioners and other stakeholders to support healthcare reforms, adding that a healthier population was essential to productivity, economic growth and national development.
Lokpobiri further appealed for national unity, urging Nigerians to give the administration the opportunity to consolidate its policies and programmes.
She expressed confidence that sustained implementation of the reforms would create more opportunities for citizens and strengthen Nigeria’s position globally, reaffirming TIHSEPA’s commitment to healthcare improvement and national development.
