The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, has received multiple recognitions from media organisations and industry stakeholders for its consumer protection and market regulation efforts, including Agency of the Year award.
The commission was honoured by Daily Independent Newspaper, NaijaTimes, the Aisha Ibrahim Babangida Foundation and BrandXchange for its role in promoting fair competition, protecting consumers and encouraging responsible business practices.
Presenting the Institutional Integrity and Public Service Award to FCCPC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tunji Bello, in Abuja on Thursday, NaijaTimes Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Mr Ehi Braimah, said the recognition reflected the commission’s contributions to consumer welfare, competitive markets and responsible business conduct across Nigeria’s economy.
Braimah said the award underscored the importance of effective regulation in safeguarding consumers and promoting a business environment where enterprises could compete fairly.
Responding, Bello thanked the organisation for the honour, saying it would encourage the commission to remain committed to its mandate and deepen its impact on consumers and the marketplace.
He said the recognitions were a motivation for the FCCPC to strengthen its efforts towards ensuring fairness in commercial transactions and building public confidence in the Nigerian market.
“We are encouraged that our work is attracting attention and recognition from different quarters. For us, what counts more is the difference we make in the lives of consumers and in the integrity of the marketplace,” Bello said.
He added that the awards would strengthen the commission’s resolve to promote fair competition and ensure consumers were treated justly.
A statement by Director of Corporate Affairs at FCCPC, Ondaje Ijagwu, said the commission also received a nomination for the Regulator of the Year 2026 award from Daily Independent Newspaper, which commended its determination in pursuing its regulatory responsibilities.
Similarly, the Women Enterprise Alliance, under the auspices of the Aisha Ibrahim Babangida Foundation, shortlisted the FCCPC for its Regulatory Body of the Year Award.
The foundation said the recognition celebrated the commission’s regulatory mandate and its contribution to strengthening enterprise confidence, market participation and sustainable economic development.
BrandXchange also named the FCCPC Citizen-centric MDA of the Year, Federal, for 2026, citing its service delivery, achievements and commitment to excellence.
The award ceremony was held at the commission’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, with Executive Commissioner of Operations, Mr Louis Odion; Executive Commissioner of Corporate Services, Hajia Ummusalma Isiaku Rabiu; and directors of the commission in attendance.
