2027: New IGM scribe vows mass mobilisation for Tinubu

The newly appointed National General Secretary of the Iyaloja-General Movement for Renewed Hope Alliance, IGM, Obiageli Okwubanego, has pledged to spearhead extensive grassroots mobilisation to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The development is coming days after her formal appointment by the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, on Thursday.
Okwubanego, while speaking on her immediate plans for the movement, said her priority is to build a cohesive national structure capable of delivering real political numbers rather than relying on loose administrative coordination.
The new scribe, who also serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, on Tax and Investment Mobilisation, described the appointment as a heavy demonstration of confidence in her leadership capacity.
Reaffirming her determination to expand the movement’s national reach, Okwubanego noted that the immediate task involves a deep fortification of the national secretariat alongside a deliberate engagement strategy targeting market leaders, traders, and community stakeholders.
She said, “The mobilisation drive would require deliberate engagement with market leaders, traders, women’s groups, community stakeholders and other segments of society. An organised and properly coordinated structure is essential to achieving meaningful grassroots participation.”
The new National General Secretary, popularly known as Madam Obby, brings considerable private and public sector clout to the role. In her state assignment under Governor Soludo, she has facilitated high-level engagements between investors and the state government, including representing Anambra State at international business platforms like the India-Nigeria Business Forum.
With her eyes fixed on the expanding national reach of the IGM, she urged members of the National Working Committee, state coordinators, and market leaders to immediately close ranks and embrace unity to build a formidable platform.
She further charged Nigerian women and market stakeholders to actively participate in the democratic process and constructively engage with the political choices that will shape the country’s future, stressing that her tenure would be strictly guided by accountability, inclusiveness, and purposeful service delivery.
