At least, six suspected armed robbers believe to have been disturbing the peace of neighbouring states, have been arrested and paraded in the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects were arrested Wednesday night, by operatives of the FCT Police Command attached to Utako divisional Headquarters.
A statement from the FCT Command disclosed that the suspects were picked from an uncompleted hospital building which is a marked black spot in Utako village.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Josephine Adeh, stated that a locally made pistol, two live cartridges and wraps of substances suspected to be marijuana were recovered from the suspects.
She said the suspects include “one Basara Hassan ‘m’ 41, Daniel Charles ‘m’ 27, Adamu M Oshiaka ‘m’ 32, Chancy Asidi ‘m’ 38 and Saliu Al Hassan ‘m’ 24, all from neighbouring states bordering FCT were arrested.”
The statement added that, “further investigation about the recovered ammunition, led to the arrest of one Yusuf Iliyasu a.k.a Tablet, who is an ex-convict and the syndicate leader.
“While investigation is ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh psc, mni, wishes to assure residents of his unwavering commitment to make Abuja a hell for criminals and to ensure safety of all.”
