President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, has called for unity and peace among Nigerians, urging citizens to embrace sacrifice, obedience, and faith.
This message came as Nigerians celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, a festival symbolizing sacrifice, obedience, and faith.
This is even as the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar, has called on leaders to intensify efforts in finding solutions to the economic and security challenges facing Nigeria.
The Sultan made the call during his Sallah message at his palace in Sokoto when thousands of Muslim Ummah gathered to pay him homage.
Shortly after the prayers the Sultan addressed the Muslim faithful at his palace where he called on leaders to intensify efforts to fix the nation’s economy and fight the rising insecurity to enable access to their farm and end hunger in the country.
Okoh, in a statement on Sunday, on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, emphasizing the need for Nigerians to unite and work towards a better Nigeria.
He urged citizens to set aside their differences and heed the call for unity and peace, praying for divine intervention in the country’s security, economic, and political struggles.
He said, “As Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, a festival symbolizing sacrifice, obedience, and faith, I urge all Nigerians to embody these values in our daily lives. Let us set aside our differences and heed the call for unity and peace.
“Our nation is in dire need of God’s mercy, peace, and unity. Let us unite in love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Let us pray for divine intervention in our security, economic, and political struggles.
‘May God’s comfort and strength support the displaced, the bereaved, and the traumatized. Let us work together to build a Nigeria where all citizens can thrive, regardless of religion, tribe, or creed. Our diversity is our strength, and together, we can overcome any obstacle.
“Let us embrace peace, love, and forgiveness. May God bless Nigeria and grant us peace, unity, and prosperity.”
In a similar vein, The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, said the celebration is about total submission to higher authority, sacrifice, and charity.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe these virtues in their daily lives.
According to the Speaker, the celebration has a major significance in the life of Muslims, as it reminds the people of the supremacy of Allah and the importance of sacrifice.
He urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to use this period for sober reflection and be their brother’s keeper at all times.
He called on Nigerians to continue praying for their leaders, while urging them to be supportive and cooperative for a better Nigeria.
