The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has confirmed that former Naval Chief, Vice Admiral Jibrin Usman, Rtd., and Brigadier-General Ishaya Bauka are still wanted for their alleged involvement in a N3 billion fraud case.
In a statement on Friday, by ICPC spokesperson, Demola Bakare, the commission dismissed reports suggesting that the amended charges had cleared the two officers.
“The claim that the amended charges have exonerated them is false and should be ignored,” said Bakare.
The Commission clarified that the arrest warrant against them remains in effect, urging the public to assist in their apprehension.
ICPC explained that amending charges is a standard procedure in court cases, allowing prosecution to proceed against available defendants while awaiting the arrest of those at large.
It was also noted that the two officers were initially charged with five others in April 2023. Despite being served the charges through their lawyers, they failed to appear in court, leading to a bench warrant for their arrest.
The Commission revealed that on February 4, 2025, one of the co-defendants, Adam Imam Yusuf, was arrested in his Abuja home, but the two ex-military officers remain at large.
“Efforts are ongoing to arrest them. If caught today, the charges will be updated to include the original allegations against them,” Bakare assured.
