As the world commemorates World Health Day 2025, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, Aare (Hon.) Tolu Bankole, has praised the Federal Government’s health interventions.
In a press statement, Bankole commended the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC government for its impactful initiatives in the health sector.
The theme for this year’s World Health Day is “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” focusing on maternal and newborn health.
Bankole highlighted the significance of this theme, emphasizing that the health of mothers and babies is the foundation of strong families and a prosperous nation.
According to Bankole, the government’s efforts have led to significant improvements in healthcare. The administration has revitalized primary healthcare centers across the six geopolitical zones, ensuring greater access to essential services.
Additionally, the budgetary allocation to health has been increased, with specific attention to maternal and child health initiatives. The government has also expanded health insurance coverage to include more vulnerable populations, enabling more women and children to access affordable care.
Furthermore, the recruitment and training of healthcare workers, especially midwives and community health officers, have improved the delivery of essential services in rural and underserved areas. As Bankole emphasized, “Together, we can ensure hopeful futures for every family.”
Bankole urged Nigerians to prioritize their health, emphasizing the importance of regular antenatal and postnatal checkups.
He also stressed the need for families to support one another in seeking early medical attention. The chairman highlighted the importance of addressing not only direct obstetric complications but also mental health, non-communicable diseases, and reproductive health challenges.
