The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has arraigned two men in Abuja for allegedly defrauding job seekers with fake employment letters.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Demola Bakare, the Commission said the suspects, Ibrahim Suleiman Umar and Tijani Adam Goni, were brought before Justice B.M. Bassi of the FCT High Court on a five-count charge of conspiracy, forgery, and obtaining money by false pretence.
He explained that the men collected ₦4.8 million from two victims in 2021, claiming they could secure jobs for them at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
Bakare added that investigations revealed the defendants forged employment letters and other documents, which they presented to their victims as genuine.
Both men pleaded guilty and were remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre. The case was adjourned to October 29, 2025, while a third suspect remains at large.
