Adamawa: FG launches food support for 35,000 persons, targets 20,000 children, mothers

The Federal Government has launched the Presidential Emergency Food and Nutrition Assistance in Adamawa State, targeting about 35,000 vulnerable persons across affected communities.
The intervention will provide food support to 7,000 households impacted by insurgency, displacement, flooding and climate-related shocks.
In addition, 13,000 malnourished children and 7,000 pregnant and breastfeeding mothers will receive specialised nutrition support, including Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food and supplementary feeding packages.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard M. Doro, said the programme forms part of a broader reform framework aimed at linking emergency relief to long-term poverty reduction.
He said beneficiaries captured under the National Social Register would be connected to conditional cash transfers, livelihood restoration, skills acquisition and micro-enterprise support.
According to him, the initiative falls under the One Humanitarian–One Poverty Response System, designed to move vulnerable households from dependency on aid to economic stability.
Representatives of the Adamawa State Government described the intervention as timely and assured that distribution would be transparent.
The traditional institution pledged support to ensure accountability at community level.
The ministry said the intervention seeks to strengthen nutrition outcomes while building sustainable pathways out of poverty for affected households.
