FEPSGA win shows Tinubu’s impact on works sector – Umahi

The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, has said the Federal Ministry of Works’ victory at the 2025 Federal Public Service Games reflects the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s support on the sector.

Umahi stated this on Wednesday in Abuja when the ministry’s Sports Club presented the FEPSGA trophy and gold medal to him at the ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi.

The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Rafiu Adeladan, directors, union leaders and members of staff.

The minister, who dedicated the victory to the President, commended the ministry’s sportsmen and women for their performance at the games held in Yola, Adamawa State.

According to him, the achievement, including a gold medal in the march past category, highlights the positive outcomes of the Federal Government’s commitment to the works sector.

“I congratulate our sportsmen and women who have made us proud. I dedicate this trophy and medal to Mr President in appreciation of his support to the Federal Ministry of Works and his commitment to infrastructure development across the country,” he said.

Umahi assured staff that their welfare remained a priority, adding that no worker would be neglected under his leadership.

He pledged sustained support for training, improved workplace conditions and staff development.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Adeladan, described the presentation as a token of appreciation for the minister’s support for official and extracurricular activities, particularly sports development.

He noted that the minister’s leadership had strengthened capacity building and talent development in line with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan.

The Director of Human Resources Management, Ahmad Muhammad Tukur, said staff competencies had improved under the minister, citing expanded training opportunities and enhanced welfare initiatives.

Also, the union chairman, Engr. Kuti William Omobolanle, commended Umahi’s administrative style and commitment to staff welfare and capacity building.

Presenting the trophy, the Assistant Sports Manager, Temitayo Florence Omotosho, said the ministry emerged first in the march past category, attributing the feat to the minister’s support.

Responding, Umahi urged workers to remain committed to professionalism, transparency and service delivery.

He also announced plans to intensify training programmes across all cadres from April and disclosed plans for a nationwide staff gathering to celebrate achievements and appreciate the President’s support.
