The joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB, has extended examination time for candidates participating in the 2026 mock Unified Tertiary Examination to four hours.
The Board, in its weekly Bulletin on Monday, said candidates scheduled for the 2026 Mock UTME will spend more time in the examination compared to previous years.
Mock UTME was traditionally conducted for two hours, but it has now been extended to four hours for the 2026 exercise.
According to the Board, this adjustment is designed to give candidates ample opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Computer-Based Test, CBT, environment.
“Accordingly, two Mock UTME sessions will be held on Saturday, 28th March 2026, to provide candidates with sufficient exposure ahead of the main examination.
“Candidates will participate in both sessions consecutively.
The first session will run from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the second session from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
“Candidates are therefore advised to take note of the extended duration for the
2026 Mock UTME,” it said.
Meanwhile, JAMB has also announced the introduction of alternate examination route, as part of efforts to safeguard the integrity of its examinations and enhance the well-being and security of its personnel.
The Board noted that it has commenced intensive sensitisation and training of examination officials to equip them with the requisite knowledge for the operation of the new testing system.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this during a training session for Technical Officers and Biometric Verification Registration Officers held nationwide on 16th March 2026.
The session provided an opportunity to acquaint participants with the fundamentals of the new testing approach.
Oloyede emphasised that the initiative is aimed at strengthening the security of both personnel and examination equipment.
He further noted that the introduction of the alternative examination route is also intended to reduce operational stress on officials while ensuring a more efficient and secure examination process.
