FG dismisses report of attack on FGGC Monguno, assures parents of students’ safety

The Federal Government has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media alleging that the Federal Government Girls’ College, FGGC, Monguno, Borno State, was attacked, assuring parents and guardians that the school remains safe and fully secure.

It described the report as misleading and irresponsible, warning that the circulation of unverified information could trigger unnecessary panic, anxiety and fear among parents, students and the general public.

In a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade, the Ministry stated unequivocally that no attack occurred at the college, stressing that all students, staff and boarding facilities remain safe, while academic and other school activities are continuing without disruption.

Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed that the safety, security and welfare of students in all Federal Government Colleges remain a top priority of the Federal Government.

He noted that FGGC Monguno operates under robust security arrangements designed to safeguard learners, staff and school facilities.

The minister further clarified that no student of the college was involved in the incident being falsely linked to the institution.

According to him, the individuals affected were remedial students outside the college, while the Borno State Government has already taken appropriate steps to ensure their safety and welfare.

The ministry urged journalists, bloggers, social media users and online platforms to verify information through credible and official sources before publishing or sharing reports.

He warned that the deliberate spread of false information undermines public confidence and distracts from ongoing efforts to provide safe and conducive learning environments across the country.

It also appealed to parents and guardians to remain calm and continue to have confidence in the safety of their children, insisting that there is no security threat at the Federal Government Girls’ College, Monguno.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to working closely with security agencies, state governments and school authorities to sustain the safety of Federal Government Colleges nationwide.

It added that it would continue to provide timely and accurate information through its official communication channels and urged the public to disregard the fake report in its entirety.
