The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has extended to November 30, 2026, the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to either accept or reject the offers.
The extension, described by the Board as final, followed the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, for about 96 hours.
In a statement, JAMB’s Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the extension was approved to give affected candidates another opportunity to update their admission records following the disruption to the CAPS platform.
The Board had earlier fixed September 30, 2026, as the deadline for candidates offered admission between 2021 and 2025 to indicate whether they would accept or reject their offers.
Benjamin said candidates who failed to act by November 30 would no longer be permitted to accept or reject the outstanding offers within the current window.
He added that any subsequent request to update an admission record relating to the previous years would attract the applicable penalty fee.
He explained that the intervention was particularly important for candidates whose admissions were not reflected on the matriculation list, noting that properly documented admission records could affect access to benefits associated with admission, including participation in the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, scheme.
JAMB advised all affected candidates to act immediately rather than wait until the deadline.
Candidates who accept their offers will be able to print their admission letters, while those who reject them will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”, allowing the Board to update its records.
The Board also clarified that candidates no longer studying at the institution where they were previously offered admission, or those pursuing a different programme, may accept the outstanding offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the previous admission, where applicable.
Similarly, candidates currently pursuing a second degree but holding an unaccepted admission from an earlier year may reject the outstanding offer and continue with their current programme.
JAMB further reassured candidates offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise who still have an outstanding offer from an earlier year that rejecting the previous offer would not affect their 2026 admission.
The Board said the extension would enable it to maintain accurate and reliable national admission records.
It reiterated that November 30, 2026, is the final deadline, after which all outstanding 2021–2025 admission offers that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” status.
