Twenty prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps abducted while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to their orientation camp in the South-East have been released.
The development was confirmed in a statement signed by the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko.
According to the statement, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, received confirmation of the release from the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, during a telephone conversation at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
The prospective corps members were reportedly abducted while on their way to the NYSC orientation camp, raising concerns over their safety and prompting calls for intensified efforts to secure their release.
Their release is expected to bring relief to their families and loved ones, who had been anxiously awaiting news of their whereabouts.
No further details have been provided on the circumstances surrounding their release or the condition of the prospective corps members.
