2027: Alausa confident of Tinubu’s victory

Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election because of his key achievements such as investments in education, student financing and skills development.

Alausa spoke in Abuja during a visit to the City Boy Movement’s office, where he commended Seyi Tinubu and members of the group for their grassroots mobilisation and engagement with Nigerians across different social backgrounds.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Mr. Ikharo Attah, the minister urged the movement to sustain its outreach and communicate the Federal Government’s policies and programmes effectively ahead of the election.

“President Tinubu makes promises he intends to fulfil. His decisions are not just about today; they are about the future of our children and grandchildren,” Alausa said.

He identified education as a major pillar of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, citing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, as an intervention designed to remove financial barriers to higher education and expand opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The minister also disclosed that more than 250,000 Nigerians were benefiting from technical and vocational education and training programmes across approximately 1,200 centres nationwide.

He said the programmes provide practical skills in areas such as solar installation, garment production, carpentry, construction and animal husbandry, equipping beneficiaries for employment and entrepreneurship.

Alausa stressed that education must go beyond academic qualifications to provide young Nigerians with practical skills that meet labour market demands.

He also highlighted efforts to improve infrastructure and student accommodation in tertiary institutions, expand nursing education and strengthen professional training, describing investment in human capital as essential to national development.

On the economy, the minister said the administration’s reforms were intended to address longstanding structural challenges and create fiscal space for investment in education, healthcare and infrastructure.

He further expressed optimism that a skilled workforce could position Nigeria to attract more business-process outsourcing opportunities and create jobs in the service sector.

Alausa urged members of the City Boy Movement to promote informed public discussions and cautioned Nigerians against misinformation and divisive rhetoric.

He maintained that the administration’s performance in education, skills development and human-capital investment would be central to public assessment of Tinubu’s leadership ahead of the 2027 election.
