Sa’Peyi Garki confers traditional titles on Jisalo, 14 others

The Sapeyi of Garki, Alhalji Usman Nga-kupi on Saturday turbaned no fewer than 11 district heads and 4 village heads to assist Garki chiefdom in monitoring security activities.

Nga-kupi, speaking shortly after the turbaning in Abuja said, “In the area of education, protecting and preserving our culture norms and values and sometimes assisting in making sure that there is peace within our chiefdom because I do lose a call on them.

In addition, the traditional heads are to support policies of government to enable peaceful development with stakeholders, which will accommodate both indigenous people and other Nigerians.

Nga-kupi said, We want to draw the attention of the present government, and incoming government to see how they’ll be able to draw the attention of people who are living in the forest in the name of banditry. Maybe we’ll have a dialogue. Let them come back home.

“Being the seat of government, we must have to be very careful to try and see if we can assist the government. We must make sure we cooperate with the government and support their policies to have peaceful development.

“We are all stakeholders. We will accommodate both the indigenous peoples and all Nigerians. We do not want any body to bring in religious, political or ethnic sentiments because Nigeria belongs to all of us. We must all allow peace to reign. We don’t have another country to call our own”, he remarked.

On his part, AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu stated that chiefs were “one of the machineries we use in ensuring that there is peace across the municipality”.

Maikalangu charged the turbaned chiefs to be “patient and fair to all residents in discharging their duties”.

Responding on behalf of the newly turbaned , the former AMAC Chairman and ex-member, House of Representatives, Zaphania Jisalo stated that it was an additional responsibility given them, especially him already being a crown Prince and Yerima of Garki.

He also pledged that he would discharge the responsibility with respect to the cultures of all Nigerians in Garki and FCT
