By Sarah NEGEDU

All flashpoints that can lead to security breach during the forthcoming general elections in the Federal Capital Territory, have been carefully mapped out with appropriate strategy set in place to forestall a breakdown of law and order.

This is according to the FCT Security Committee, which disclosed that adequate security personnel have been deployed to such flashpoints for round-the-clock surveillance.

The Committee at its February meeting presided over by the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, said  that adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee the safety of officials as well as the residents across polling units.

Aliyu, at the meeting therefore urged all eligible residents to come out en-masse and exercise their civic responsibility.

She used the occasion to urge residents of the territory to conduct themselves lawfully during the exercise.

The Committee reviewed all security concerns and expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness by the respective security formations in the Territory and concluded that the 2023 General Elections would hold in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility within the FCT.

They also noted the proactiveness of the FCT Administration in restricting commuter movements around the International Conference Centre, Abuja, being the Collation Centre for the 2023 Presidential election.

The Committee emphasized that the FCT is known for peace and warned that it would not tolerate any act inimical to the peace and development of the Territory.

The FCT Security Committee meeting was attended by top management of the FCTA, all heads of security formations in the FCT, Chairmen of the six Area Councils, Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, and other stakeholders.
