Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College in Kogi State.
The commendation came at the groundbreaking ceremony held at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, where the foundation stone for the college was laid.
“I am optimistic that this project will help address the negative impact of climate change by promoting renewable energy sources and adaptation in Nigeria,” Governor Ododo said. “The Renewable Energy College aims to empower marginalized segments of society by fostering gender equality and enhancing local resilience. This is a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to a sustainable future for our nation.”
The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, also praised the initiative, saying, “The groundbreaking ceremony for Nigeria’s first Renewable Energy College marks a significant moment towards sustainable development and energy transition in the country. This college will serve as a hub for innovation and knowledge sharing, driving Nigeria’s energy sector forward.”
Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria, added, “The Renewable Energy College is a significant milestone in the journey towards the delivery of renewable energy solutions in Nigeria. It will not only bridge the gap in manpower development but also enhance knowledge base in innovation and opportunities in renewable energy. We are grateful for President Tinubu’s vision and leadership in this critical sector.”
Chief Nnaji commended Governor Ododo for his immense contribution towards making the Renewable Energy College a reality, said,
“The success of this college will rely largely on the support of the Kogi state government, the host institution, and the community to ensure its sustainability. Governor Ododo’s legacy will benefit generations to come. His commitment to this project has been instrumental in bringing it to fruition.”
Governor Ododo also emphasized the importance of community involvement, saying, “We must work together to ensure the success of this college. I urge the people of Kogi State to embrace this initiative and support its growth. Together, we can create a brighter future for our nation.”
