The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has assessed communities affected by recent attacks in Ovia Southwest Local Government Area of Edo State.

The agency’s Edo Operations Head, Mr. Kenoma Ojuederie, led the assessment team in collaboration with the Edo State Emergency Management Agency (EDOSEMA), headed by Executive Secretary Mr. Jerry Idahosa.

According to NEMA, eight communities were attacked, but the team could only visit four due to ongoing tensions in the remaining areas.

During the visit, the officials met with displaced persons, conveyed the government’s sympathy, and urged them to remain calm.

Many of those displaced are taking refuge in temporary shelters, while the injured are receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital and Ignobazuwa General Hospital.

NEMA assured that efforts are ongoing to support the victims and restore normalcy in the affected communities.
