The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), has distributed food assistance to vulnerable households in Kebbi State.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Fatima Kasim, said KSrelief has been partnering with NEMA since 2018 to deliver food aid to Nigerians affected by insecurity and hardship.
However, this is the first time Kebbi State is benefiting from the initiative.She explained that 2,450 households had been profiled to receive food baskets, each containing 59.8 kilograms of essential food items, including rice, beans, masa vita, cooking oil, and seasoning.KSrelief’s intervention, she noted, aligns with the Federal Government’s efforts to improve citizens’ welfare and reduce vulnerability to disasters.Governor Nasir Idris, represented by his deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar, appreciated KSrelief and NEMA for their timely intervention, especially as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.The food aid was distributed directly to vulnerable persons in Birnin Kebbi, Dandi, Gwandu, Shonga, Argungu, and Augie Local Government Areas.
