The tactical team of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have received the N20million bounty placed for capturing two of Abuja’s most wanted kidnappers.
Recall that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had on February 14, placed a N20 million bounty on one Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, and Samaila Wakili Fafa, a.k.a Habu Ibrahim, with an order to bring them in, dead or alive.
The duo were have been accused of causing mayhem in the nation’s capital, kidnapping and killing unsuspecting citizens, with Saidu Abdulkadir said to have masterminded the kidnap and killing of the district head of Ketti community in AMAC, Mr Sunday Yahaya Zakwai.
However, barely 48 hours after the bounty was placed, Saidu Abdulkadir was captured during a raid on kidnappers’ camps bordering Nasarawa and Abuja via Kuje area council. The second suspect, Habu Ibrahim, was later picked up from Sardauna Forest in Toto, Nasarawa State, after two weeks of manhunt.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT, Benneth Igweh, while expressing gratitude to the minister for fulfilling his promise to the command, said this will boost the morale of the management and personnel of the command.
A statement by the spokesperson of the command, Josephine Adeh, quoted the Commissioner as saying, “The honorable minister took decisive action by placing a bounty of twenty million naira on two notorious and most wanted kidnappers on February 14, 2024, and has matched his words with action following the arrest of the two wanted kidnappers.
“The implementation of such measures reflects the minister’s leadership and responsiveness to the security and safety of residents.
“The Command is therefore highly honored and grateful for his unflinching and continuous support in combating crime and ensuring the well-being of the residents.”
She further stated that, “the CP had ensured that the fund was distributed amongst the tactical teams and the divisional police officers of the command to ensure better service delivery. He also reassures the minister and the residents of FCT that the command under his leadership will leave no stone unturned in the fight against crime and criminality and will continue to work assiduously to ensure the safety of residents.”
