FCTA to partner Hungary in tackling insecurity

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has expressed interest to partner with Hungarian companies in fighting insecurity in the territory.

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who dropped the hint when he received in his office the Consul-General of the Embassy of Hungary in Nigeria, Endre Peter Deri, said the FCTA will be willing to hold discussions with Hungarian companies on the right equipment to deploy in the fight.

The minister was responding to am appeal by the Consul-General on the need to collaborate with Hungarian security companies who are willing to sell drones to the FCTA to tackle its security challenges.

Deri informed the minister that the companies are willing to enter into lease agreement with the FCTA and also train its personnel on how to operate and use security drones.

Wike, promised to start up the conversation with security experts, relevant departments of the FCTA and Hungarian team to determine the efficiency and efficacy of the drone that will be required for the FCT.

He however pointed that the security situation in the FCT had relatively improved due to the proactive approach used in tackling the issue.

“You will agree that Abuja is safer now because of the way we tackled the issue of insecurity. We want to have drones, and discussions will be held with your people to determine the type of drones we need,” he said.

The minister also offered to provide land for agricultural projects in the FCT, so as to boost food security in the country.

“The issue of agriculture is very key, and I know your country is doing well in agriculture.

“We can collaborate and partner in terms of PPP. We are willing to provide land, if you can reach those concerns we can start the process.

“Let us also know what they intend to produce in order to address the issue of food insecurity in FCT.
