Mahmoud comiserates with NCWS over passing of national president

Federal Capital Territory Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has extended her condolence to the family, friends, and all members of the National Council of Women Societies, NCWS, over the death of its National President, Hajiya Lami Lau.

The late Lau passed in the early hours of Wednesday, June 5, 2024, after a brief illness.

The minister, in a condolence message signed by her Media Adviser, Austine Elemue, described the incident as “a huge loss to the women fold.”

Mahmoud said the late women leader was committed to the peace, unity and progress of Nigerian women, adding that she built her ideas of nationhood on true sustaining democratic principles.

The condolence message reads in part, “the death of the president, National Council of Women Societies, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, in submission to the will of Almighty Allah, is indeed shocking.

“The demise of the National President at this critical time of our development is a huge loss to the women fold and one too deep to our First Lady.

“The late women leader was one that was committed to the peace, unity and progress of our women.

“She was a dedicated leader and champion of Women’s Empowerment, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her”, adding that her tireless efforts and contributions to the betterment of the society would never be forgotten.

The Minister, therefore, comiserates with members of National Council of Women Societies on this great loss, while noting that her death has also thrown dark clouds over the Council.

She further enjoined all to put her family in prayers at these critical times while praying Allah to grant her Aljannah.
