The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, has been released by the Department of State Services, DSS, after pressure from several quarters.
Ajaero was held for several hours after he was intercepted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on his way to a labour event in the UK.
“To the glory of God the workers president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, has personally confirmed his release from the DSS facility in Abuja,” an official of the NLC said.
Comrade Ajaero was detained Monday on his way to the Congress of the Trade Union Congress, TUC of the United Kingdom, UK, where he was scheduled to address global workers, representing the working of Nigeria.
The Nigeria Police Force has invited him twice within two weeks to appear before them, the second invitation letter was dated a day before he honoured the first invite at the Inspector General Police Response Team office in Abuja, later inviting him and the General Secretary Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
