Police raise alarm over planned terrorists’ attack in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has issued a warning to residents, following intelligence reports of a potential terrorist plan to attack public gatherings in key locations across the state.

Police spokesperson in Kano, Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement, advised the public to remain vigilant and avoid crowded areas as a precautionary measure to help security agencies neutralize potential threats.

“The Kano State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has received credible intelligence of suspected terrorists planning to attack public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State,” the statement read.

Kiyawa emphasized that security operatives, including explosive ordinance disposal and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear response teams, have been deployed to strategic areas and are on high alert.

“Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity or emergencies to the nearest police station or contact the command via the following emergency numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926. Additional hotlines for reporting suspicious items or persons include 08169884988 and 07067157218,” the statement said.

The spokesperson commended residents for their continued support and urged them to remain vigilant, highlighting the importance of public cooperation in ensuring safety.

Police however assured the public that proactive measures are being taken to secure the state and prevent any potential attacks.
