Authorities of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Unizik, Akwa, have expelled Miss Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, an
undergraduate seen in a viral video molesting one of its lecturers.
The expulsion was conveyed in a letter to Precious on Friday by the Acting Registrar of the university, Mr. Victor I. Modebelu.
According to the letter, Precious’ dismissal was approved by the Acting Vice -Chancellor of the university, Prof Bernard Odoh, upon the recommendation of the Student Disciplinary Committee.
“The Ag. Vice -Chancellor has received the report from the Student Disciplinary Committee on the case of your assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theater and Film Studies which was found to be a gross misconduct and violation of the Students Disciplinary Regulations particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).
“Consequently, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor has, on behalf of the University Senate, approved the Committee’s recommendation that you be expelled and you are hereby expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
“The expulsion takes immediate effect. You are expected to vacate the University premises immediately and return any University property in your possession,” the letter read
Recall that Precious, a 300 level student of the Department of History and International Studies at the university had physically assaulted a lecturer, Dr Chukwudi Okoye, of the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, for interrupting her video recording.
A video of her attack on the lecturer quickly went viral across the country and drew angry reactions from Nigerians over the young lady’s show of shame and disregard for the lecturer.
