The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has commenced investigations into an explosion that occurred along the Mararaba-Nyanya bypass on Monday afternoon, prompting heightened security measures in the area.
Reports of an attempted bomb attack filtered in on Monday afternoon close to the Mogadishu Barrack where eyewitnesses claimed the suspected bomber was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device contained in a rubber.
The incident, which happened at approximately 2:50 PM on Monday, triggered a swift response from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD, Unit of the police.
However, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement released shortly after the incident explained that officers promptly cordoned off the affected area to secure the scene and ensure the safety of commuters and nearby residents.
“One male victim was rescued at the scene and promptly taken to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
“A comprehensive investigation has commenced, including detailed forensic analysis, to ascertain the exact cause and nature of the explosion.”

While urging the public to remain calm, the Police Command assured residents that “there is currently no cause for alarm.” The statement also emphasized the importance of public vigilance, encouraging citizens to report any suspicious persons, objects, or movements to the nearest police station.
