…as over 4.4m voters register nationwide
Ahead of the 2026 FCT area council elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the conclusion of its ward level registration, stating that the online voter pre-registration in the FCT has ended on Monday, 15th September 2025.
The Commission made the announcement in a statement on Monday by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Sam Olumekun, which gave further update on online and in-person registration of voters nationwide.
It stated that for the next two weeks, the physical or in-person option will be at the designated venues.
“Thereafter, the Commission will devolve the registration to all the 62 Wards in the FCT from 29th September to 8th October 2025. Detailed addresses of the centres have already been uploaded to our official platforms,” INEC said.
The Commission also disclosed that it has carried out a total of 4,445,505 online registration of voters since the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise began four weeks ago.
“As of Sunday 14th September 2025, a total of 4,445,505 Nigerians have now pre-registered online in four weeks since the commencement of the exercise on 18th August 2025.
“The figure at the end of Week Four shows that 2,141,294 (48.17%) are male and 2,304,211 (51.83%) are female. In terms of age and occupation, the majority 2,924,643 (65.79%) are between the ages of 18 and 34 while 1,112,344 (25.02%) are students,” INEC stated.
The Commission also disclosed that as of Friday, 12th September 2025, the combined figures of the completed online pre-registration and the physical, in-person, registration is 509,929.
While giving a breakdown of the total in-person registration, it said, out of 509,929 registrations, 229,758, representing 45.06 per cent are male while 280,171 or 54.94 per cent are female.
In terms of age and occupation, it noted that 378,132, representing 74.15 per cent are young people between the ages of 18 and 34 while 196,529 or 38.54 per cent are students.
