Otti vows to stay focused on delivering dividends of democracy

…as Cyclist rides from Lagos to honour his achievements

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has assured residents that nothing will distract his administration from delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

Otti gave the assurance on Monday, shortly after the State Executive Council meeting, while receiving Mr. Wisdom Chisom, an Abia-born cyclist who rode a bicycle from Lagos to Umuahia in honour of the governor’s achievements in office.

According to a statement from the Government House, the governor reaffirmed that the essence of governance is the welfare and happiness of the people. “We are happy that our people are happy because the essence of government is to make your people happy. We will continue and will not stop,” Otti said.

He appreciated the support of Abians both at home and in the diaspora, stressing that his administration remains focused on improving infrastructure and the general wellbeing of citizens.

Mr. Chisom, who hails from Nunya in the Isuikwuato Local Government Area, said he was inspired by the ongoing transformation in his community, particularly the reconstruction of the 11.5km Nunya–Eluama Road abandoned for many years.

He described his journey as a “symbol of honour” to the governor, noting that he had witnessed visible development projects across the state. “When I visited my village, I couldn’t believe the changes. Things are moving fast. Even policemen who saw my T-shirt with your picture were excited and allowed me free passage,” he said.

Governor Otti, joined by top government officials including the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, and Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, thanked the cyclist for the gesture and encouraged him to remain a good ambassador of the state.
