INEC disowns purported PDP letter on NWC, Ekiti governorship primaries

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has dismissed as fake, a letter circulating on social media, claiming the resolution of the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, meeting and postponement of the Ekiti State Congress/Governorship Primary.

INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, in a statement, said the letter, dated November 10, 2025, was falsely attributed to the Secretary to the Commission.

The Commission stated categorically that the correspondence did not originate from the Secretary’s office or any official channel of the Commission.

Preliminary investigations, according to the Commission, revealed that the signature of the Secretary was forged by “unscrupulous elements.”

INEC, therefore, urged the public, political parties and the media to disregard the fake document in its entirety.

While describing the act as a serious electoral offence and a calculated attempt to mislead Nigerians, the Commission warned those behind such criminal activities to desist in the interest of electoral integrity and national peace.

It added that it is working closely with security agencies to track down the perpetrators and ensure they face the full weight of the law.
