TETFund unveils N1.3bn female hostel at Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, has commissioned a newly-constructed 244-bed female hostel at Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, Rivers State.

The project, which is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to ease accommodation challenges faced by students in public tertiary institutions, valued at N1.399 billion.

 South-South representative on the TETFund Board of Trustees, Hon. Aboh Uduyok, who inaugurated the project commended the institution’s management for delivering the facility on schedule.

“Today’s event is more than a commissioning; it is a celebration of partnership, vision, and progress. Across Nigeria, TETFund has been commissioning completed projects in beneficiary institutions, reflecting the Fund’s steady pursuit of excellence and purposeful intervention. 

“What we witness here today demonstrates prudent resource management and a strong commitment to transforming Nigeria’s tertiary education sector in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

Uduyok described the hostel which was completed despite prevailing economic challenges, as a symbol of resilience, integrity, and dedication to improving physical infrastructure that supports innovation and excellence in technical and vocational education.

TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono, who was represented by Engr. Samson Imoni, from the Fund’s Monitoring and Evaluation Department,  praised the institution for its discipline, transparency, and effective use of public funds.

Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Ledum Gwarah, expressed profound appreciation to TETFund, noting that the facility would significantly enhance students’ welfare and academic focus.

“This project brings us immense joy because it is not merely a building; it is a facility that transforms lives. With the comfort provided here, our students will be encouraged to remain on campus, concentrate on their studies, and thrive in a safe and conducive environment,” he said.
