INEC ends Q1 CVR with 2.57m completed registrations, displays Voters’ Register Dec 15

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has concluded the first quarter of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise, announcing a total of 2,572,054 completed registrations as at the end of the 13th week.

Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the figure comprises 1,503,832 completed online registrations and 1,068,222 physical registrations recorded nationwide as of November 28, 2025.

Eta-Messi noted that the CVR exercise, which began with online pre-registration on August 18 and physical registration on August 25 across the 774 Local Government Areas, state offices, and the FCT, will close its first quarter on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

She announced that in compliance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC will commence the statutory Display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections from December 15 to 21, 2025, at Local Government Offices where the CVR was conducted.

The Commission urged all eligible citizens, particularly those who registered, transferred, or updated their details during this phase, to make use of the window to verify their information, flag errors, and report ineligible or deceased persons on the voters’ register.

It stressed that public scrutiny remains vital to preserving the integrity of the electoral roll, reiterating that the CVR exercise remains suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, due to ongoing electoral activities.

It noted new dates for resumption in the affected areas will be announced in due course.

According to the weekly update, INEC has so far received 9,891,801 online pre-registrations nationally, out of which 2,572,054 have been fully completed.

The Commission added that the second phase of the nationwide CVR exercise will resume on January 5, 2026, in line with its earlier published timetable.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a credible, transparent, and inclusive voter register, and appealed for continued public cooperation to deepen and strengthen Nigeria’s democratic processes.
