The Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Hajia Ireti Kingibe has concluded plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress, ADC today at the party’s headquarters in Wuse, Abuja.
A statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Kennedy Mbele, said the legislator is expected to pick the ADC party card in a move to usher her into a new political train.
According to the statement, Senator Kingibe had earlier promised to join the ADC and her constituents have expressed joy over the development.
Mr. Mbele described the move as a bold step which makes her the only serving Senator to join the ADC, which has been adopted by many politicians as the main opposition party to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in 2027.
Senator Ireti Kingibe was elected into the National Assembly on the platform of the Labour Party in 2023.
