NAOWA president supports 1,500 barracks families with end-of-year relief

The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association has distributed food items to over 1,500 barracks families at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja, as part of end-of-year support activities.

The outreach was disclosed in a press statement issued by Captain Jemila Jimoh, Liaison Officer, NAOWA, quoting the association’s president, Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, who said the gesture was aimed at supporting widows of fallen soldiers and other vulnerable members of the barracks community during the festive season.

According to the statement, beneficiaries included widows of fallen heroes, members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association and the Military Officers’ Widows Association. The event was organised under NAOWA’s End-of-Year humanitarian activities to provide timely relief and promote unity within the barracks.

Speaking at the event, Shaibu described the outreach as a clear expression of compassion and solidarity, stressing that it reflected NAOWA’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of Army families.

She noted that the gathering also created an opportunity for members to come together in the spirit of Christmas, strengthening bonds of love and mutual support.

The NAOWA president commended members of NAOWA and NASWA for their resilience and sacrifices, especially while their spouses are deployed on military duties across the country.

She urged beneficiaries to promote peace and harmony in their homes, describing peace as the foundation for growth and progress. Shaibu also encouraged families to embrace savings and investment, while assuring them of NAOWA’s continued support in welfare and empowerment initiatives.

Highlights of the event included the distribution of food items to beneficiaries and a group photograph to mark the occasion.
